THE FMA EXCELLENCE AWARDS:

ARE YOU TAKING PART?

Hi ,

As you have probably heard by now, the FMA National Conference in Brisbane is only eight weeks away! That Conference is just sneaking up on us isn't it?

The FMA Excellence Awards offer the great opportunity to promote the excellent work that FMA Member organisations and flood risk managers are doing within FRM in Australia. You are helping keep our communities safer - and we want to celebrate that.

Last year, the FMA-NRMA Insurance Flood Risk Management Project of the Year was won by the City of Gold Coast Council for their Hinze Dam Project. This project aimed to reduce the impact of current and future floods within the Nerang River System and ultimately challenged conventional thinking on flood planning in Queensland.

Council has since utilised the $2,500 prize money to fund A New Generation Flood Emergency Decision Support System, which is a fully automated system and uses real time two-dimensional flood modelling in emergency management.

Runners up in the 2014 Awards were Balonne Shire Council, Lake Macquarie City Council and Launceston Flood Authority for their conscientious FRM projects.

We had so many excellent entries last year and we want 2015 to be even bigger, and even better! Send your submissions through to me at projectservices@floods.org.au before 3 April to take part.

Details and conditions of entry are available at floods.org.au/awards.

This National Conference provides an outstanding occasion to showcase your flood risk management activities, and the exceptional work of flood risk managers, to the Australian FRM industry and to international guests and speakers - prepare your entry now!

Remember - entries close Friday 3 April 2015.

Regards,
